Antique Wall clocks -- Tell The Time With Style
Wall clocks from a while ago can be schoolhouse clocks used in a one-room schoolhouse, perhaps. They often had large numerals so students could tell the time from across the room. No excuses for being late! Although not antique, retro clocks around fifty years old were often in the form of an animal with a swinging tail performing pendulum functions. Some antique clocks used a standard pendulum and this style looks like the upper part of a grandfather clock. While a lot of retro wall clocks were made from vinyl or plastic, antique ones were mostly of wood. Mahogany was a favorite and sometimes modern reproductions are made from the same wood. Reproduction wall clocks can be battery operated. Although they appear to have a functioning pendulum, it too, is powered by a battery. Some repros are actual, and fully-functioning, wall clocks. A lot of repro wallclocks that you can buy today save you a ton of money over the genuine article. Make sure that you get a high quality one, because there's nothing worse than a pendulum falling off and making everyone jump!
