Antique is Not Old, and Old is Not Antique

Antique furniture lends a certain class and sense of history to any room of your home. Whether you use it exclusively or as part of an eclectic mix, antique furniture is a wonderful and individual way to express the look of your dreams. While antique furniture is old furniture, not all old furniture is antique. Technically, antiques are those pieces over one hundred years old. Nowadays, we often think of antiques as period pieces that aren't necessarily of that age. Some antiques are very old. Generally, an antique that's several hundred years old and in good shape, will be more valuable than a new one. Rarity of the piece factors into that as well. You can always get that same look with lovely reproductions. This doesn't mean that you can't have any genuine antiques. There's a balance, and if you strike it just right, your home will be welcoming and others will always notice.
